mentor

Students arriving on campus today are more focused on their future than ever and are looking for opportunities to prepare themselves for post-graduation life. Mentoring can be a difference maker for them and for our chapter.

Mentoring Program

The Oregon Alpha mentoring program connects undergraduate members with alumni who can help them while they are in school, when they graduate, and as they navigate their professional life. We were the first chapter to pilot this program with the national fraternity and we are the only fraternity at the University of Oregon giving our members this opportunity.

The program is easy to participate in, does not require previous mentoring experience, and is flexible to fit your schedule. It is an invaluable experience for students who are figuring out their future and looking to make connections. Here is how it works:

The mentoring program starts as soon as Fall rush is complete:

  • The Mentoring Committee introduces new members to the program and assesses interest for the new year.

  • Undergraduates and alumni register for the Mentoring Advantage Program on the Phi Psi portal.

  • We pair alumni and undergraduates according to their careers and areas of interest.

Fall term

The mentoring sessions start during winter term and last into the spring. The program is set up to make it really easy for alumni to participate by providing the structure and the resources you need. Here’s how it works:

  • Undergraduate members reach out to their alumni mentor to introduce themselves and decide how (e.g. video calls) and when to meet.

  • The MAP system suggests milestones and sends reminders for completing them.

  • Discussion guides are available to support mentoring sessions.

Alumni can sign up any time by visiting the Phi Psi Portal and clicking on the “Continue with FSID” button to register for your portal account. Once you are logged in, click on the MAP icon to get to the Mentoring Advantage Program page and look for the “Sign up to be a MAP mentor for 2024-25 school year”. Once you sign up, we’ll look to see if there is a good match for you and reach out to you.
